Journal History

The Journal of Studies and Research on Technological Education (EDUCITEC) is a free scientific periodical created in 2014. It was idealized by Professor Dr. Amarildo Menezes Gonzaga and its realization project was prepared by Professor Dr. Anne Karynne Almeida Castelo Branco.

Its start is linked to the Professional Master's Degree in Technological Education (MPET), from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas (IFAM), and became the journal of the Graduate Program in Technological Education, due to the approval of the professional doctorate in November 2019.

The magazine's mission is to disseminate academic-scientific production and provide the generation of new knowledge related mainly to teaching-learning and the different factors that interfere in it, focusing on technical and technological education. It is characterized as an electronic channel of formal scientific communication, in which research is disseminated and appreciated by the scientific community.

Educitec Magazine was first evaluated in 2016 receiving Qualis/CAPES B1 in Education.  The editors were professors  Dr. Amarildo Menezes Gonzaga, Dr. Anne Karynne Almeida Castelo Branco, Dr. Izabel Alinne Alves de Paula, and Dr. Nilton Paulo Ponciano.

In 2019, there was a modification in the scientific editorial team, and from 2020 a set of procedures and new practices of editorial management were adopted, in the organizational scope, of content and design. The objective was to implement significant changes and initiate the journal's new phase, demonstrating the constant work and commitment to research and scientific dissemination, reflected by previous and current editors.

To this end, different adjustments were made. Some of them were the expansion of the National and International Editorial Committees, and the Technical team (Graphic Design and journal Layout, Designer/Web designer, Editorial Assistant, Portuguese and English Language Reviewers). Also, there were other alterations as: the construction of new manuals for reviewers and authors; the design of a new journal cover; the reformulation of the evaluation form; the development of new templates; the growth of the ad hoc database of evaluators; the adoption of four thematic lines (Teacher Training Processes, Processes and resources for teaching, Educational products and methodologies for its elaboration and development of science in the education area); the promotion of the journal's diffusion; the increase of applications for participation in national and international indexing banks; the implementation of internationalization strategies; above all, some innovations in the editorial process, including the adoption of open science in scientific publishing.
