The present text deals with technology as a concept under construction, included in the universe of education, the relationship established between it and the teacher, as well as the four trends of teacher training in the current Brazilian reality. It is the result of literature review and discussions held in the classes of the Professional Masters in Technological Teaching, of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas - IFAM. The mainly objective is to foster the discussion about technology in school education and teacher training in the contemporary world. For this, besides the introduction and the final considerations, this article is constituted in three sections: the first is on the term technology; the second, on the presence of technology in the school space and its relationship with the teacher; and, finally, the third section, the discussion is made about the teacher formation in front of the dynamic and uncertain educational reality. The main theoretical trajectories were Peña (2003), Pinto (2005), Cantini et al. (2006), Chagas et al. (2006), Silva (2007, 2013), Ghedin (2009) and Imbernón (2011). As a consequence, the text points to an emergency in how to use technology in the classroom - construction of knowledge -, from a reflection on the term, and how one thinks about the teacher's formation in the present moment given the reality of constant transformation in the scientific field, in the media and in the technology itself.
