Opening the Interview section in Educitec Magazine, Ana Cláudia R. de Souza, professor of the Postgraduate Program in Technological Education/PPGET, talks with researcher Walter A. Bazzo, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, in a dialogue which leads to a discussion on issues aimed at reflection, criticism, and humanization in technological education, to make us realize that we live today in the same volume of control, the planet Earth. An engineer by training, and with a huge experience in discussions on education, W. A. Bazzo develops the concept of the civilizing equation, in the relationship between science, technology, and society. Thought-provoking, he states that today, postgraduate programs are very lethargic, in terms of promoting reflections when it comes to scientific and technological education, as well as on social inequality, which constitutes a contemporary variable, and implies the reduction of human dignity, which is increasingly debased in our civilizing process. In an interview that goes through several topics, and indicates huge literature for consultation, he presents that the engineer cannot be just that person who knows how something is created, but must ask himself why, for what, and for whom his production is being made.
