Abstract

The authors of the book Ser professor e Dirigir professors em Tempos de Mudança (Being a
Teacher and Managing Teachers in Changing Times), Lourdes Bazarra, Olga Casanova and
Jerónimo García Ugarte are teachers that added to their teaching practice, the role of trainers.
The innovative didactic-pedagogic purpose of the book presents two angles: 1) being a
teacher; and 2) managing teachers. The common context is this time we live in, at the height
of the Technological Revolution. The teacher is asked to build himself the profile of a leading
professional characterized by passion for research and innovation; ability to communicate and
educate; strategy creation and selection in order to improve student´s autonomy on learning
process; formation of citizens. Through knowledge, dialogue and research, the authors wish to
develop our "human potential". Reading the book is a delightful and necessary task to
education professionals.
